Utilikilts . . . or how do you pull off this look?!

Recently, our production company created a series of vignettes for the

Downtown Seattle Association. The thrust of these shorts, uh . . . skirts?

Highlighting the fun and interesting businesses that choose to make downtown

Seattle their home. In this episode, our host Pat Cashman

strolls down to historic Pioneer Square to meet the owner of Utilikilts.

Cupid, good to see you again!

ABC must be feeling the love. They are rolling out a show that originally appeared on their schedule a few years ago. The setup? A psychiatrist finds a new attendee in her group therapy session . . . a man who believes he's Cupid.

Cupid, v.1 starred Jeremy Piven and Paula Marshall. The 2009 version brings the talents of Bobby Cannavale and Sarah Paulson to our little screen.

The writing is light and breezy. The concept . . . familiar, given that it based on itself. With time to mature, this show can be a welcomed addition to ABC's comedy lineup. Cannavale seems at home in his role as Cupid/Trevor Pierce. Paulson is frustratingly standoffish and adorable (you may recall seeing her on NBC's Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip). As the series continues to unfold, I'm sure we'll grow to love her character, Claire McCrae, as she tries to help her patient come to terms with his delusion. And, perhaps the writers are counting on building the chemistry between the two leads.

Given the short window given for Cupid, the next few weeks will determine if this series comes back with a full compliment of arrows for the Fall 2009 season. Here's hoping it will.

Life on Mars . . . thank you and goodbye!

Regretfully, the US version of Life on Mars aired it's last episode tonight.

Lasting a scant 17 episodes, this show did have a devoted, albeit small following. A tip of the hat to the cast and crew that made Life on Mars a gem in the forgettable 2008/9 tv landscape.

Back to the show, among my friends, tonight's ending drew a line between those who loved and hated it. I suspect the British version of "LoM" may have met the same sort of love/hate criticism.

However, there was more love for this show on the other side of the Atlantic. The BBC is now airing a Life on Mars sequel - Ashes to Ashes (which can be seen on BBC America). And, if you catch the first episode of "A2A," you'll find out more about the BBC's "LoM" Sam's life after Life on Mars.

I will not spoil the ending - though if you're a fan of the Brit version, you'll be surprised at how it's American counterpart chose to end its series. You may be able to watch "LoM" episodes online - check www.abc.go.com. Look for the free episode banner/click and enjoy the handful of shows while you can. And I'm sure there may be other online outlets that may offer more episodes.

So as the sun sets on Life on Mars, there's some great news . . . unlike my other favorite tv show Journeyman, there will be a Life on Mars DVD set! Look for it to be released in September 2009! It's already on my Amazon.com wishlist!
